Toilet Renovation: Wall Tile Installation

Preparation and Planning

Before starting the tile work, we assessed the condition of the walls. The surfaces were not perfectly even, which is common in older buildings. We leveled the walls using cement-based compound and applied primer to ensure strong adhesion of the tile adhesive.

In this project, the design was built around two types of tile: a base tile with a calm light gray tone imitating natural stone, and a decorative striped tile with colorful horizontal accents. This combination allowed us to visually divide the space while keeping the layout dynamic and elegant.

Tile Installation Process

We started tiling from the floor upward, carefully aligning the rows to ensure level consistency around the room. The patterned tile was installed along the middle height of the wall to create a bright, decorative band, while the plain tile was used above and below to maintain balance and reduce visual clutter.

Precision around corners, wall niches, and the inspection hatch was a priority — every cut was measured and adjusted to maintain symmetry and clean lines. We also installed two glass shelves into the tiled walls, adding functionality without compromising the design.

Grouting and Finishing

After all tiles were installed and set, we applied moisture-resistant grout matched to the tone of each tile type. The corners and joints around the shelves and access panels were sealed with high-quality sanitary silicone to prevent water damage and mold.

The result is a visually expanded space that feels neat, fresh, and well-organized. Even in small rooms like this, thoughtful tile design makes a noticeable difference.
