Roof Replacement for Backyard Enclosure

At ProHands Handyman, we recently completed a roof replacement project for a backyard enclosure that had significant structural and waterproofing issues. The old roofing material was unstable, uneven, and poorly sealed, causing water to pool and leak into the structure.

Project Challenges

The original roof was composed of layered rolled roofing and patch materials held together with wire and spray foam. Over time, this caused:

  • Standing water on the roof

  • Roof sagging due to lack of proper slope

  • Risk of structural failure

  • Poor aesthetics and exposure to the elements

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Demolition: We began by carefully dismantling the existing roofing material and inspecting the wooden frame underneath.

  2. Structural Reinforcement: Weak or warped wood was replaced, and new framing components were added to ensure long-term stability.

  3. Slope Correction: We adjusted the roof structure to create a proper slope, allowing water to flow off efficiently and preventing future water damage.

  4. New Roofing Installation: Lightweight and durable corrugated plastic panels were installed over the new framing. These panels are weather-resistant, UV-protected, and ideal for backyard enclosures.

  5. Finishing Touches: All panels were trimmed, sealed, and fastened securely. The overall structure was cleaned and left in excellent condition.

Final Result

The enclosure now has a clean, strong, and fully functional roof that blends visually with the home and protects the interior space from rain and debris. The new sloped design ensures proper drainage and significantly extends the life of the structure.
