Metal Railing Repair: Rusted Section Restoration
In this project, we repaired a rusted and unstable section of a metal guardrail mounted on a concrete retaining wall. Over time, moisture had caused corrosion in the base of the railing, weakening the structure and posing a safety risk. Here's how we restored the railing to full strength and appearance.

The Problem: Rust and Structural Instability
The lower section of the railing had developed significant rust, especially where the metal meets the concrete. The corrosion had eaten through part of the metal tubing and compromised the connection to the wall. If left unrepaired, it could eventually fail entirely.
Step 1: Cutting Out the Damaged Section
We began by carefully cutting out the rusted sections using a grinder. All compromised metal was removed to ensure the replacement would be solid and long-lasting. We also cleaned the surrounding concrete area for proper bonding and welding access.
Step 2: Welding New Metal Sections
We fabricated a new matching section of railing and welded it securely in place, ensuring full structural integrity. Special attention was given to alignment and spacing to maintain the railing’s appearance and safety standards.
Step 3: Rust Protection and Painting
Once the welding was complete and the joints cleaned, we applied a rust-inhibiting primer followed by two coats of durable exterior paint to match the existing finish. This sealed the surface and protected it from future corrosion.
Final Result: Solid, Seamless, and Safe
The repaired section now blends in perfectly with the original railing, and the structural integrity has been fully restored. It’s both safe and visually consistent with the rest of the fence.
