Service: Wooden gate refinishing and protection

Location: Glendale, CA

Scope of Work: Refinishing two wooden gates and part of the fence from the inside using a spray gun and protective stain coating.

What We Did

The two gates and the section of fence located between two neighboring homes had faded due to sun exposure, with aged wood and worn-out hardware. Our client wanted to refresh the look to better match the newly painted exterior and to protect the wood from further damage.

We cleaned the surface, masked the surrounding areas, and used a professional airless sprayer to apply a protective exterior stain evenly and efficiently.

Step-by-Step Process

1. Inspection and Prep:

We checked the integrity of the wood and hinges. All surfaces were brushed to remove loose debris.

2. Masking & Protection:

We covered adjacent structures and the ground to avoid overspray.

3. Sprayer Setup:

A medium tip was selected for even coverage of vertical wood slats.

4. Stain Application:

We applied a premium semi-solid stain with water-repellent properties. Multiple thin coats ensured full coverage and color saturation.

5. Detailing & Cleanup:

We touched up hard-to-reach areas with a brush and removed all masking for a clean finish.

Why It Matters

Outdoor gates in Southern California are constantly exposed to sun, wind, and moisture. Without proper protection, wood dries out, cracks, and becomes vulnerable to mold and decay.

Spray staining provides uniform protection, deep penetration, and a fresh appearance without hiding the natural texture of the wood.

Maintenance Tips

Reapply stain every 2–3 years (or as needed) depending on exposure.

Clean gates with light pressure wash annually.

Tighten hardware as needed — UV damage can loosen screws over time.

Thinking of Updating Your Gates?

Whether your gate needs a refresh, a full rebuild, or just protection from the elements — we can help.
