Full Home Renovation on Sherman Way in Los Angeles: Modern Electrical Upgrade in a 4,500 sq. ft. House

A full home renovation is always an opportunity to give a house a new life. Especially when it’s a large property of 4,500 sq. ft., where every system needs to be upgraded to match modern standards of safety, comfort, and efficiency.

We recently began a major renovation project on Sherman Way in Los Angeles, and the very first step was a complete electrical upgrade. The work covered all 7 main rooms and bathrooms. In total, we installed over 150 light fixtures — including recessed LED lights, chandeliers, and decorative lighting — and replaced about 100 outlets and switches throughout the home.

Why Start a Renovation with Electrical Work?

The electrical system is like the nervous system of a house. It powers everything: lighting, appliances, gadgets, heating and cooling systems, and smart devices.

Common problems in older systems:

Outdated wiring that can’t handle today’s electrical loads.

Loose, sparking, or overheating outlets.

Flickering lights when multiple devices run at the same time.

Inefficient lighting that wastes energy.

No infrastructure for modern “smart home” technology.

Renovation is the perfect time to rebuild the electrical system from the ground up.

What We Did in the Sherman Way Home

1. Replacing about 100 outlets and switches

We removed all outdated outlets and switches and replaced them with modern, safe, and stylish models. Among them are USB-integrated outlets for charging devices and dimmer switches for better lighting control.

💡 Tip: When planning a renovation, think carefully about furniture placement and daily routines. This helps determine where outlets should go so you won’t need extension cords later.

2. Installing over 150 light fixtures, chandeliers, and decorative lights

The lighting system was completely redesigned to match both functionality and aesthetics.

Recessed LED fixtures for clean, energy-efficient general lighting.

Chandeliers in dining and living areas to create focal points and add elegance.

Decorative fixtures in bedrooms and hallways for warmth and ambiance.

Moisture-resistant lights in bathrooms for safety.

Now the house has layered lighting: bright for work, soft for relaxation, and decorative to enhance design.

💡 Tip: Always mix functional lighting (recessed LEDs) with decorative fixtures (chandeliers, sconces, pendants). This creates a balanced and inviting atmosphere.

3. Preparing for Smart Home Integration

We laid the wiring and installed compatible equipment to make the system ready for smart dimmers, remote-controlled lighting, and full home automation.

💡 Tip: Even if you don’t plan to install smart devices immediately, it’s wise to prepare the infrastructure during renovation. It increases both convenience and property value.

4. Clean, professional installation

We carefully protected the floors and walls during installation, kept the site clean, and used professional equipment to minimize dust. The result was a safe and spotless workspace, ready for the next stages of remodeling.

What the Homeowners Gained

A modern and safe electrical system that meets all current codes.

Over 150 lighting fixtures, including recessed LEDs, chandeliers, and decorative lights.

About 100 new outlets and switches, some with USB ports for added convenience.

Future-ready wiring for smart home integration.

A beautiful, bright, and energy-efficient interior.

Final Thoughts

We started the renovation of this 4,500 sq. ft. home on Sherman Way in Los Angeles with one of the most important upgrades — the electrical system. The homeowners now have a safe, efficient, and modern foundation that will support the rest of the remodeling process.
